Day 1 Kathmandu - Spiritual Nepal
Your short break adventure begins
at 2pm with a tour of Kathmandu covering all spiritual bases. Visit the holy
Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, dedicated to Shiva, and get the lowdown on
Buddhism from the monks at Boudhanath, one of the largest stupa in the world.
Spend some time with the Sadhus (Hindu holy men), and peer into your future
with a local astrologer before being dropped back at your hotel. Spoiler alert:
there are mountains aplenty, and probably dinner and a drink.
Day 2 Kathmandu - Path to a Hidden
Monastery
Escape the city with an early
departure to explore Kathmandu's beautiful surrounds, accompanied by a guide.
Take local transport to Budhanilkantha and visit the temple dedicated to
Vishnu, then begin hiking through the surrounding farmlands into Kathmandu's
nearest forest reserve – Shivapuri National Park. Hike to Nangi Gompa, a hidden
Buddhist monastery, and take in the spectacular views of Kathmandu Valley and
the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Descend through the woodlands and past
waterfalls to the end point at a local bazaar. From here, you'll travel back to
Kathmandu on the local bus to enjoy a free evening in town.
Day 3 Kathmandu - Nepali Cooking
Class & Rickshaw Night
Today you'll Pick-up from your
hotel in Kathmandu city, and head to the tour commencement location.Kathmandu’s
old city is a treasure trove of mystic charm and is dotted with temples. The
heritage walk which takes you from Thamel (Touristic Hub) all the way to
Basantapur (Durbar Square), which is like stepping back in time. From Thamel
you will enter Thahiti Chowk, a popular part of the old city filled with market
streets, shrines and temples, and then on to Ason Chowk, Jana Bahal, Seto
Machhendranath, Indra Chowk and then to Kathmandu Durbar Square - a UNESCO
World Heritage site. The duration of the walk itself is approx. one hour and
thirty minutes.The aroma of spices such as turmeric, cardamom, cumin, fenugreek
and chillies will hit your noses, as you approach Ason market. Narrow streets
and constant activity are the hallmarks of this market. Ason is a traditional
market dating back centuries, and its importance lies in its strategic location
on the trade route between India and Tibet earlier. Even if you are not
shopping, visiting this colorful and vibrant market is an experience in itself.
In addition to spices, the market is popular for groceries and other items such
as clothes, utensils, crockery.Since the aroma of the spices might have whet
your appetite, you will be taken to a local eatery to sample some local snacks.
Later transfer back to your hotel in Kathmandu city.
Tonight experience the
wonderful and sights of Kathmandu by night on a rickshaw tour.
Day 4 Kathmandu
Your short break comes to an end
today and there are no activities planned. There are no activities included
today, but if you'd like to continue exploring there are more fantastic
available, including exploring the ancient cities of Patan and Bhaktapur.
